Gesso and clay on plywood – Scale 1:50, 1:100

Bodhitree Education Fund, Bihar, India.

We have been asked to house a junior school in a remote region of northern india.

These models are a series of test works exploring the formal possibilities of enclosing volumes utilizing mud brick vaulting techniques suitable for the heavily humid climate of the tropical Sub Continent.

The aim is to harness local materials and their skill base, while also generating a new architecture that pays heed to the easterly prevailing wind and is forged from earthen brick of the locality and constructed with community labour.
