A2 grey card
This piece forms part of an ongoing series which aims to investigate mapping and urban sprawl.
The map of central Paris, a densely populated area was it’s starting point. I wish to explore the intricacies of streets and networks by removing the buildings and leaving a network of pathways and arteries. I chose paper to represent the fragility and transient nature of our urban environment, and cutting to abstract certain elements and reduce the cityscape to a fragile web-like form.
Working at this scale allowed me to incorporate a huge space, whilst exploring the intricacies and hidden areas which make up the whole.
